Over the past few years Wired magazine has increasingly become a bit like those men's magazines, all sex advice and barely disguised ads for expensive gear. Sort of like Details (which a friend of mine used to call Entrails) for geeky types. Still I doggedly subscribe.
There is however a nice entry in the latest edition's Jargonwatch section.
Going Bedouin. Verb. Downsizing a business by eliminating all but the core assets: employees and the communications links between them. A company that has gone completely Bedouin lacks a physical location, operating simply as a network of engineering, sales and support staff connected 24/7 by Internet and cell phone.
We've all in IT had the experience of working with those companies.
