Oracle and Unicon just announced a partnership to create a "next-generation academic enterprise environment" for higher ed and K12.
The environment will be "comprihensive" and the goal is apparently to create a new academic management platform linking Oracle products with Sakai's.
Well we knew something was going to happen at Oracle in this space.
This adds a whole new layer of complexity to the Blackboard patent claims and dispute.
This is very interesting Glenda, as my wild guess is that a big target of the BB suit against D2L is the competition between BB's Commerce Suite (OneCard, etc.) and D2L's eCommerce System.
Of course I am not a lawyer;-).
By the way, in Martin's "Moodle movements around the world" talk at the recent NE England Moodle Conference, streamed via Elluminate, one of the announcements was that MS has hired Moodle to build in native support for SQL Server:-).
